The nose whistle returns

I noted in a previous post that I was bothered by a nose whistle for the majority of the day. I was pleasantly surprised to get a few random emails from people asking what a nose whistle is. I tried really hard last week to get to a computer with a microphone so I could quickly record what it sounded like before the whistle went away.

Below is a small, faint clip of a minor nose whistle. I’m not too proud of it. I’d rate it a 2/5 stars as far as the air to whistle ratio coming out of my nose. I’ll try my best to get a 4 or 5/5 before the year’s end. In the meantime, enjoy.

ive had a nose whistle for 8 days now

its starting to reallly make me mad.

usualy waht you can do is stick a straw up your nose and breathe really hard,

and it will go away…unless its really bad like mine.

Nice, hopefully you can perfect your performance. Have you heard there’s an actual instrument called the nose whistle?

In order to get rid of the nose whistle, you have to do two things:

    1) Get a humidifier

    2) Stop blowing cocaine

I’ve been able to whistle through my nose for the past 4 1/2 years.

It’s not from sickness, I have no clue how I am able to do it.

My nose has just begun whistling at sporadic times. When it starts it can be heard when I speak. Embarassing to say the least. Any Ideas how to stop it without surgery? I am concerned about sticking a straw up my nose. That sounds like some kind of college stunt. Thanks. Whistlers Remorse.

    Hey Whistlers,

Yeah I found for me that the whistlin’ is the worst for me in the dry/cold of winter. I haven’t found much that helps, but I definitely wouldn’t try the straw approach…you might poke your brain and then find that you walk funny or have a permanent drooling problem.

Wow, I have had the nose whistle going on for about 3-4 months now.

I have no idea on how to cure it but last night I nose whistled “you are my sunshine” to my 4 1/2 year old daughter. She loved it.

    Honestly.

    Wolf says:

For undesired whistling noses & other sinus problems, you should try regular saline sinus rinsing for a while before sticking objects up there. “NeilMed”: makes “Neti Pots” & squeeze bottles for sinus rinsing that work safely, drug free, surgery free, doctor approved, & there’s probably other brands as well, all available at your local drug store. Just follow directions & it’s easy, painless & healthy. Good luck!

BTW: For those musically inclined noses, there’s a cheep & easy to play musical instrument called a “Humanitone” (also known as a “nose whistle”) that you play with your nose. Look it up…

You can hear my nose whistle from across the room. I’ve had it for a long time and thinking about finally talking to a doctor about it. I’ll probably end up at an ENT specialist. Not good when you are sitting in a meeting and whistling away.

    Rukmini says:

I too am afflicted by the nose whistle!
Mine comes in winter mostly, I think, so it must have something to do with being dry. usually it’s just because there’s a booger in the way so i have to pick it out… kind of gross but better than whistling away like a little boiling kettle.
I found this site while looking for an explanation & solution and I’m glad to have come across fellow nose whistlers!

good luck to all and merry whistling (:
