Saw

The Skinny: Two random men wake up in the lair of a serial killer, forced to figure out how they are connected and how they might escape in one piece…literally.
The Good: Ooo…I love a good, gross serial killer whodunnit with lots of icky situations, especially when those situations make you actually think, “What would I do if I were them?” And I think this film had a great ending that you won’t see coming. Seriously, if someone comments on this post one day and says, “Nyeah nyeah nyeah! I saw the ending coming!” I’ll call you a big smelly doo-doo head liar.
The Bad: Cary Elwes has got to be one of the worst actors in the world. I’ve never seen someone look so awkward when trying to act scared – especially in a scene where he’s trying to grab an item that’s just out of reach on the floor. Other than that, the only thing I really didn’t like was how hard the film tried to look and feel like Se7en.
The Ugly: Three words: razor wire fence.
The Bottom Line: Not as good as other films in this genre that it tries so hard to imitate, but as I said before, the ending alone is almost worth the price of rental.
Score:

I also saw SAW last night and I thought that it was good. You are right. I never saw the ending coming at all! I have the same gripes as you. Cary Elwes (or whatever his name is) was terrible…TERRIBLE. In the middle of a suspenseful horror movie, I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself because he sounded like Will Ferrel doing a random impersonation on SNL. Anyway, I know that I am a little nicer to movies than you are Bri, but I thought that it was a great movie overall!
